Hachnasos Sefer Torah!

 

 

It is with tremendous excitement and pride that Kehillas Derech Chaim announces its upcoming Hachnasas Sefer Torah to the Shul, jointly, by the Paige and Radzyner families.  
 


Motzei Shabbos:

The Kesivas Osios will take place on Motzei Shabbos, rather than Sunday morning, so that all boys will be able to attend. The Kesiva event will be both for adults and for children, and will coincide with Avos U'banim.  Beginning at 7:45 PMSharp, there will be a seated 15-20 minute session with the sofer regarding the manner through which the sefer torah is created (klaf, ink, etc), written and completed. This will be an interactive session for the children where they can ask questions to fully appreciate the mitzvah which is transpiring. It will hopefully give meaning to the Kesiva they will partake in, as well as enhance their understanding of all future Shul/Torah experiences.

 

Afterwards, beginning with youngest families (bedtime), fathers and sons will be invited to come up and write their Os, with the father and/or Sofer writing. Children over Bar Mitzvah can be indirectly involved in the Kesiva if they are so inclined. This will coincide with father/son learning while waiting.  We will be serving hot food, cake, and refreshments, along with pizza for the children, while they wait and while they learn.  Rabbanim will be invited to write Osios on Motzei Shabbos as well.

 

Sunday Aftenoon:

At 3:00 PM, all families are invited to meet at Ner Tamid/Next Door at the home of the Paige mishpacha where the Torah will be danced into the shul.  There will be pekalach, torches, flags, live music, etc.

Dancing will be completed before 4:00, followed by divrei torah from the Rav, Mincha, and a lavish banquet in the Ner Tamid Social Hall. The program is expected to end no later than 5:30. Many of the local community and Ner Yisroel Rabbanim have already confirmed that they will be in attendance. 

 

This is a unique opportunity for the achdus of our shul and we want every family to attend. All families are strongly encouraged to partake, whether or not an Os is purchased.

Many of you have been approached about the possibility of buying an Os.  Suggested donation is $180, but pricing is flexible. Again, the most important element is the achdus of having our entire shul engage in this unique mitzva. Thank you to the families listed below, who have already generously sponsored a Kesivas Os.
